You have a very positive "can-do" attitude about your funding issues and your hopes and work for and in the SLLC. Yes, funding is an issue and I'm sad to hear about the great disparity between have/have-not schools. It's terrible. I appreciate your thoughts on weeding and living free of the fear of empty shelves. I agree that it is totally better to have a few great books than shelves full of less-than-optimal books. Students know when they're being tricked; by providing them with the best options we can sends a powerful message about their worth and our esteem of them. Sounds like you're doing some great work!
